Challenge – Designing for designers. What could be more daunting than creating something for your peers? Especially when the audience is as cynical as they are sophisticated. This is what we pondered when we were approached by the Graphic Designers of Canada to develop a creative platform for the upcoming PICA Conference.
Solution – Our approach embraced the cynicism of the audience with a satirical look at personality traits of designers. The central thread of the materials was the notion of critiquing everyday objects through the eyes of a designer. The series included invitations, posters, a website and a set of installations at the Conference that encouraged participation from the attendees.
Result – Despite onerous winter driving the event was well attended and afterwards Vision was besieged by requests for copies of the program and the campaign went on to win numerous awards.
